Personalized psychotherapy designed to address the unique needs of young adults
Ottawa, ON
Let's face it, young adulthood is messy! You’re trying to find purpose and fulfillment, and at the same time, looking for routine in a chaotic world. It can all be pretty disorienting.
Maybe you’re in university trying to balance it all: school, part-time job, co-curriculars and somewhere in there, a social life! Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed about starting your career. Maybe self-criticism is living rent free in your head and you’re ready for a change. I combine professionalism with a genuine, empathic approach to help young adults develop skills for post-secondary and career success, foster personal growth and build a future that reflects who they truly are. My practice is collaborative and person-centered at its core. My goal is to create a trusting and non-judgmental environment where you feel comfortable sharing and growing.
I know there’s alot of instability and unpredictability in life for you right now. I’m a millennial and I’m right there with you! My clients describe me as consistent, caring and down to earth.
Here’s what you can expect in our sessions:
I will ask open questions to understand you, what you’re struggling with and what healing looks like to you- this way, we know what we’re working towards.
We will collaboratively investigate difficult thoughts and feelings with curiosity and compassion (I know it can feel like alot, but we’re in it together!)
I will gently offer a new way of seeing a situation, or new way of coping.
I will suggest practical emotion regulation strategies, organizational and time-managemnt tools, and tips to beat procrastination and perfectionism.
Throughout our work, I’ll check in with you to make sure you’re feeling comfortable and that we’re aligned on working towards your goals.
We will pause to focus not just on the problem, but also, on what’s going well!
We’ll even share some laughs along the way!
My clients are diverse, but something they all have in common is that they are trying to figure out how to navigate the world, school or work, as an adult.
My clients are typically young adults (18 to mid thirties). We talk about all sorts of things, but some common themes explored in our sessions include:
Imposter syndrome, procrastination, perfectionism, time management, difficulty focusing, self-criticism, stress management, feelings of failure, navigating neurodivergence as an adult
Goal setting, staying organized, prioritization, self-care, emotion regulation, digital use
Moving cities, living independently, starting college, graduating, starting a new job
Making friends as an adult, dating, maintaining friendships from afar, adjusting to living with room mates, feeling isolated, setting boundaries, social comparison, people pleasing
Parental relationships, adjusting to new family roles, differing worldviews, parental pressure
Identity exploration, career direction, feeling stuck
Emotion-focused Therapy (EFT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Compassion-focused Therapy (CFT)

While working as a counsellor in a university setting, I gained extensive experience working with post-secondary students at risk of academic failure, as well as working with students who had learning disabilities and chronic health issues that impacted their academic success. I came to admire young adults’ inherent ambition and resilience, even in times of fear. However, I also came to know their struggles: feeling utterly overwhelmed, feeling lonely and worried about the future. I saw students question who they are, what their purpose is and their sexuality. I saw them navigate new and long-standing relationships, all the while trying to keep up good grades and take care of themselves. In my work, I helped clients understand their strengths and their struggles, develop emotion regulation skills, and build practical study skills and life skills to help them thrive in school and day-to-day life. By helping clients navigate uncharted experiences, I witnessed firsthand clients who moved from feeling stuck or lost, to feeling a sense of clarity and direction.
I’m here to help you understand who you are and build the life you want for yourself. We’ll do this by bringing curiousity to your behaviour, thoughts and feelings (especially the ones you might be trying to avoid!), developing practical strategies for managing stress and relationships, and we’ll celebrate the progress you make along the way!
A bit about me personally:
Plant mom to too many pothos (or is it pothoses?). I’m all about the grandma hobbies: gardening, knitting, reading, museums and markets. Dog lover. Can’t hold a tune. Seeker of all things cozy. I believe in eating dessert first.

Starting therapy can be intimidating! In our first session, we will walk through the consent form and intake form and then we’ll take some time to get to know you, what brings you in and what you want to work on in psychotherapy.

I would like to acknowledge the traditional, unceded Anishinabe Algonquin territory on which I live, work, learn and play. I am committed to further understanding the trauma caused by dispossession of land, genocide and injustice and to honouring the inherent resilience of Indigenous people past, present and future. As a psychotherapist, I commit myself to an anti-racist and anti-opppressive approach in which I actively unlearn harmful beliefs, and commit to questioning and challenging oppressive systems that uphold colonialism and deny Indigenous people the right to self-determination. This is work that is essential to individual and collective well-being. As I continue to learn, I encourage you to further inform yourself about Indigenous history in your community by consulting the resources below, shopping at local Indigenous-owned businesses or reading books by Indigenous authors.
